McCartney's house taken off Google Street View

A house belonging to singer Paul McCartney has been removed from Google Street View, it was revealed today.

It is thought that the former Beatle’s security team requested that the internet giant remove the residence from the site.

McCartney is said to have penned some of his best-known hits at the townhouse in St John’s Wood, north London.

A statement from the website, which shows in-depth photographs of roads, said: “Since the launch of Street View in the UK millions of people have used it and the vast majority are very happy to have their house included.

“But we recognise that some people, like Sir Paul, don’t want images of their house to appear on Street View and, by simply clicking on a button on the site, they can have them removed.”

A spokesman for the 66-year-old declined to comment.
