Most in health board care end up homeless: report

One-third of Irish people who leave the care of health boards end up homeless within six months and two-thirds within two years, according to research conducted by Focus Ireland.

One-third of Irish people who leave the care of health boards end up homeless within six months and two-thirds within two years, according to research conducted by Focus Ireland.

The study also found that local authority housing levels are now 60% below what they were 25 years ago.

Justin O'Brien, Focus Ireland's director of housing, said the figures show the State has neglected to look after young people who are left in its care.
