INTO to back revised LRC proposals on Croke Park II

The INTO is to recommend to it's 32,000 members to accept the revised LRC proposals on Croke Park 2.

The union said that potential gains in the original proposals have been fully retained such as the improved scales for newly qualified teachers.

It has also been promised that all certified sick leave will be covered as will bereavement leave - proposals to cut back on cover was one of the main reasons behind the rejection of the original agreement.

Speaking after a meeting of leaders today the general secretary of the INTO Sheila Nunan described the revised proposals as better than what was previously available.

She said they offered more protection to teachers and their families than the government’s alternatives for public service pay.
