Buoyed by the best round of the week so far, Thomas Bjorn needed only three more holes to take the lead in the Daily Telegraph Dunlop Masters at the Forest of Arden today.
But the Dane was not alone in overtaking halfway pacesetter Brian Davis, who could not improve on his four under par position over the same stretch.
Bjorn’s compatriot Soren Hansen and England’s David Howell also grabbed two quick birdies to move to five under in the race for the first prize.
Amazingly, the tournament is still waiting for its first bogey-free round - after over 350 rounds.
Ireland’s Gary Murphy did match Bjorn’s 68 to improve to level par, but that included a bogey six on the 12th and another dropped stroke at the 201-yard 15th. Murphy followed that, however, with three successive birdies.
