Virgin Mobile increases customers

Virgin Mobile, the UK's fifth largest mobile phone operator, reported a 16 % hike in third quarter net connections, taking its total customer base to 3.138 million.

Virgin Mobile, the UK's fifth largest mobile phone operator, reported a 16 % hike in third quarter net connections, taking its total customer base to 3.138 million.

During the summer months of July, August and September 2003, Virgin Mobile added 269,381 new customers, more than double the growth of arch-rival Orange over the same period.

The company recently introduced a £5 (€7.31) pre-paid card, at a time when other networks are lifting their minimum cards in an effort to encourage more people onto contract.
