Police seize fake Harry Potter books
Two men have been charged with breaking copyright law in Chile for distributing an illegal Spanish version of the new Harry Potter book, it was reported today.
The men were found in a production studio with 200 copies of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the BBC said.
JK Rowling’s book about the boy wizard is yet to be released anywhere in the world in Spanish.
Eduardo Castillo, president of the Chilean Book Chamber business group, implored Chileans not to buy the illegal translation.
“Not only is it illegal, not only is it a pirate copy, it is a really bad translation,” he said.
Pirated versions and unofficial translations of the British author’s best seller have appeared everywhere from Pakistan to Germany.
