Bruton seeks investigation into rising ticket costs

Fine Gael TD John Bruton has called on Sports Minister John O’Donoghue to investigate the high cost of admission to sporting events.

Fine Gael TD John Bruton has called on Sports Minister John O’Donoghue to investigate the high cost of admission to sporting events.

Mr Bruton claimed today that the costs of tickets for such events had risen by 13% in the past year, 10 times the rate of inflation.

"That has to be a rip-off," he said. "There is no justification for an increase of that magnitude and I believe that the Minister for Sport, who is giving out taxpayers’ money to sporting organisations, should demand answers."
