At least five people were killed today and 33 injured when a bus crashed into a railway bridge support in north-eastern Spain.

At least five people were killed today and 33 injured when a bus crashed into a railway bridge support in north-eastern Spain.

The bus was travelling from Madrid to Barcelona with 42 people including the driver on board when it hit the concrete column supporting a high speed train line near Zaragoza.

Ambulances were dispatched to the scene and police said an inquiry had been launched. The accident happened at about 2.30am local time (1.30am Irish time).
