Brinks workers begin second day of all-out strike

Workers at the Brinks Allied security firm are beginning their second day of strike today in protest at the introduction of new security vans and procedures.

Workers at the Brinks Allied security firm are beginning their second day of strike today in protest at the introduction of new security vans and procedures.

The all-out stoppage began yesterday morning following the company’s decision to reject a Labour Court recommendation aimed at ending the dispute.

The Brinks workers believe the new vans and procedures leave them more vulnerable in the event of a robbery.

Their union, SIPTU, has also accused Brinks of deliberately provoking the current dispute as an excuse to wind down its Irish operations, an accusation denied by the company.

The row has caused hundreds of ATMs in the east of the country to run out of cash.
