Strong interest in new radio licences

Almost 60 expressions of interest have been filed with the broadcasting commission for possible new radio stations here.

Almost 60 expressions of interest have been filed with the broadcasting commission for possible new radio stations here.

Most are for new regional stations and many have come from existing stations.

Nine are for new services in the Dublin area, seven in the Mid West and four in the North East while eight for semi national.

The commission will now consider the suggestions and then decide what new licences to offer.
