Galway 0-10 Mayo 0-8
Galway are the Connacht Football champions after a two point win in a tense and scrappy Connacht Final at Salthill today.
The Tribesmen deserved victory and maybe should have won by more as their forwards squandered a number of chances.
Galway had the better of a lacklustre first half, holding Mayo to just three Conor Mortimer points.
Mayo started well, opening a two-point lead, but Galway began to find their form as the half wore on.
Michael Donnellan, Kieran Comer and Derek Savage hit the target to give Galway a 0-5 to 0-3 half-time lead.
Donnellan stretched that lead to three points just seconds after the restart.
However, Mayo, with Ciaran McDonald coming more into the game, rallied and drew level with points from McDonald, Mortimer and Alan Dillon.
The visitors briefly took the lead, 0-8 to 0-7 on 62 minutes, but Galway finished with style and sealed victory with points from Padraig Joyce, Donnellan and Michael Meehan.
