Co Cavan accident leaves one dead, one seriously injured

A 20-year-old man died early this morning, in Cavan, when his car crashed into a pole near Virginia.

A 20-year-old man died early this morning, in Cavan, when his car crashed into a pole near Virginia.

His 20-year-old male passenger was seriously injured and remains in hospital.

That means that two people have been killed on the roads this weekend, with three more people fighting for their lives with serious injuries.

In Dublin, Gardaí in Rathfarnham are appealing for witnesses to a collision on Grange Road last night when a 23-year-old male motorcyclist lost control of his bike outside a school.

The man is in a serious condition in hospital with head injuries.

Gardaí want to talk to a female motorist who stopped at the scene.
