Gardaí in Dublin are continuing to hunt for the perpetrator of a stabbing in the city yesterday.

A woman in her 20s is in a critical condition in hospital after she was set upon and knifed in the neck and upper body on Lourdes Road, near Cork Street in the south inner city.

It happened as she was returning home from a night out at around 3am yesterday.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have seen her to contact them.

She has been described as having long red hair, and she was wearing a grey skirt, brown boots and a cream and brown check jacket.
