Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren has been charged with improper conduct today following his reaction to defender Franck Queudrue’s dismissal at Tottenham.

McClaren confronted match referee Phil Dowd on the pitch during half-time at White Hart Lane and angrily questioned his decision to give his full-back a straight red card for a two-footed challenge on Noe Pamarot.

The incident occurred on Sunday and the Boro boss has until December 15 to respond to the charge.

It proved a costly afternoon in London for Boro, who yesterday saw Queudrue’s appeal rejected and the defender will now serve a three-match ban. Midfielder George Boateng picked up his fifth booking of the season and will be suspended for one match.
