With an increase of 2.4% compared with the same period in 2005, the figures clearly demonstrate the importance of construction to the Irish economy.

A spokesperson for the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) stated: “These figures from the CSO demonstrate the continued growth of the construction sector in Ireland and the vibrancy of the Industry.”

“The CIF is confident in the future of the construction industry and the continued growth in employment demonstrates this.”

The figures released are from the Index of Employment Construction, Central Statistics Office.
