ISME demands Dublin Airport decision

The Irish Small and Medium Enterprise representative group ISME has called on the Government to "get off the fence" and make a decision to introduce the second Dublin Airport terminal without delay.

The Irish Small and Medium Enterprise representative group ISME has called on the Government to "get off the fence" and make a decision to introduce the second Dublin Airport terminal without delay.

ISME chairman Robert Berney said: "There is a particular urgency on the matter as Irish aviation is growing rapidly, with passenger numbers at Dublin Airport expected to swell from 17 million a year to 30 million, over the next 10 years."

"A second terminal for the overcrowded airport was promised in the Government election manifesto in 2002. However, three years on and there has been no decision on its location, size, or who will build or run it. This is completely unacceptable both to the ordinary traveller and business users who rely on a fast efficient service".

ISME have called for an independent terminal and said the suggested collaboration between the Dublin Airport Authority and SIPTU is a "non-runner".
