Man charged with robbery of US tourist, Irish couple

A 21-year-old Dublin man has appeared in court after an Irish couple and an American tourist were beaten and robbed in Merrion Square on Tuesday.

A 21-year-old Dublin man has appeared in court after an Irish couple and an American tourist were beaten and robbed in Merrion Square on Tuesday.

Adam Doyle, formerly of Grange Manor Road, Rathfarnham, but now living in a hostel, is charged with robbery, assault causing harm and of demanding a mobile phone and wallet with menaces.

He was refused bail.

Dublin District Court heard one of the men attacked was hit by a crutch while the other was punched and sustained a broken nose and fractured jaw.
