A 21-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted by a gang of men in west Dublin.

A 21-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted by a gang of men in west Dublin.

The man had been sitting in a parked car with friends at Fortlawn Park in Blanchardstown at 6.30am yesterday morning when they were attacked by a group of men.

He suffered serious head injuries and is being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Three men in their 20s were arrested and have been held overnight at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular to anyone in the vicinity of Fortlawn Park or Sheepmore Green between 6am and 7am yesterday morning to contact them.
