The Tánaiste, Mary Harney, was forced to run a gauntlet of protesting students as she arrived for a function at University College Dublin this afternoon.

Up to 80 students attempted to block the Tánaiste's car as she entered the college, but Gardaí prevented the blockade.

The students were protesting against the Government’s apparent plans to further increase student registration fees from €670 to €1,200.
