The closing stages have been reached in the trial of a Corkman accused of raping his two sisters.

Final addresses have been made to the jury by prosecuting counsel, Mr Niall Durnin SC (with Mr Cormac Quinn BL), and defence counsel, Mr Tim O'Leary SC (with Ms Anne Marie Lawlor BL).

Mr Justice Butler will send out the jury of seven women and five men to begin deliberating when he has concluded his charge. It is day-five of the trial.

The 50-year-old man has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to five charges of raping and sexually assaulting his eldest sister on dates between 1971 and 1976 in Cork.

He also denies eight charges of raping and sexually assaulting her younger sister between 1971 and 1979.
