Dublin man is fatally stabbed

A murder investigation is underway this morning after a man died in the early hours of today following an attack in Ballyfermot, Dublin last night.

A murder investigation is underway this morning after a man died in the early hours of today following an attack in Ballyfermot, Dublin last night.

The man in his early 40s confronted two men who were interfering with his car at his home on Cherry Orchard Avenue at around 8.30pm yesterday, and was subsequently stabbed in the back.

He was taken to Saint James' Hospital where he immediately underwent emergency surgery, but lost his battle for life at around 2am today.

The scene of the attack has been preserved for technical examination later today.

No arrests have yet been made, but gardaí at Ballyfermot are calling for anyone with information to come forward.
