Students to protest re-introduction of college fees in Dublin

The Union of Students in Ireland is launching its national protest against the re-introduction of college fees today.

The Union of Students in Ireland is launching its national protest against the re-introduction of college fees today.

Members of the USI, who want the Government to keep its pre-election pledge not to bring back fees, are participating in a small demonstration in Dublin this afterrnoon.

Tens of thousands of students from across the country will converge on the capital next week to demand that the Government protect education and Ireland’s future.

USI President, Gary Redmond, has said the Labour Party made a commitment during the General Election to students and families that they would not support any increase in fees.
