Gardaí are carrying out a series of raids in Sligo town this morning, as part of an investigation into the murder of Eugene Gillespie.

Gardaí are carrying out a series of raids in Sligo town this morning, as part of an investigation into the murder of Eugene Gillespie.

The 67-year-old was found with his hands tied in the hallway of his home on Market Street in Sligo at 9.30pm on Friday night.

He was taken to Sligo General Hospital, where he later died.

This morning, Gardaí confirmed a number of searches are being conducted, as part of the investigation into his death.

A garda spokesperson said he cannot comment any further on the matter as the searches are ongoing.
