ISEQ ends week on positive note

The ISEQ index of Irish shares ended the week on a positive note today, climbing 7.49 to close at 5,407.52.

It was a good day for the financials. Allied Irish Bank climbed 5c to €12.27 while Bank of Ireland leaped 17c to €10.58.

Anglo Irish Bank closed up 14c to €12.90 while Irish Permanent was up 5c to €12.45.

Meanwhile medical diagnostics group Trinity Biotech recovered some ground after a tough week. Shares in the company climbed 19c to €2.47.

Elsewhere Kerry Group was up 11c to €17.11 while CRH rose 8c to €18.15. Readymix rose 7c to €1.55 and Grafton was up 5c to €6.70.

Meanwhile Abbey was a big loser on the ISEQ today, falling 25c to €8.35. Abbey announced pre-tax profits for the year ended April 30 of €60.21m, up from €48.46m in the same period of 2003.
