The Irish recruitment agency CPL has warned of an impending shortage of IT graduates due to the declining popularity of technology-related college courses.

The company said the popularity of computer courses had been falling in tandem with the downturn in the IT sector that began two years ago.

It said the sector was now showing signs of recovery, but the interest in IT-related college courses was still very low.

Several industry groups have already expressed concern that the lack of IT graduates could see many firms leaving Ireland due to a shortage of qualified workers.
