Newmarket trainer Jeremy Noseda was fined £2,000 and jockey Eddie Ahern banned for 14 days over the running of King Forever in the last race at Newbury today.
The colt was beaten a total of three and three-quarter lengths into fourth in the second division of the Dubai International Airport Maiden Stakes.
The stewards considered the horse had travelled well throughout the race but did not appear to be asked for an effort until inside the final furlong.
The jockey said the three-year-old had taken time to quicken when asked for an effort and needed further than today’s trip.
The stewards decided that Ahern had intentionally ridden his mount not to obtain the best possible placing, and stood him down from April 27 to May 7 and May 9 to 11.
Noseda was fined under the rule that requires him to have given instructions necessary to ensure the horse ran on its merits.
King Forever will not be allowed to run for 40 days, from April 19 to May 28.
