The jury in the manslaughter trial of a Co Mayo farmer is to resume its deliberations this morning.

Padraig Nally, 62, denies unlawfully killing father of 11 John “Frog” Ward at his farm in Funshinaugh, Cross, on October 14, 2004.

Dublin’s Central Criminal Court has heard that the accused beat Mr Ward 20 times with a stick and shot him twice.

The second fatal shot was fired as the traveller limped from the farm.

Jurors were sent to a hotel last night after they failed to reach a majority verdict following almost four hours of deliberations.
