CSO reports 4.3% increase in overseas visits to Ireland

The Central Statistics Office has reported a 4.3% rise in the number of overseas visits to Ireland in July compared with the same month last year.

The Central Statistics Office has reported a 4.3% rise in the number of overseas visits to Ireland in July compared with the same month last year.

The CSO said it recorded 754,200 overseas visits to Ireland in July 2004, compared to 722,800 in July 2003.

It said the number of trips from Britain was down 2.6%, but the number of visits from the rest of Europe and from North America increased by 14.9% and 2% respectively.

The CSO also said that Irish residents made 618,800 overseas trips in July of this year, an increase of 13.1% on the figures for the same month last year.
