Officials had erred on the side of caution yesterday in calling an 8am check, but that was not required.

Delighted clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson said: “The minus 1C we were forecast did not materialise, it did not really change from what it was in the afternoon, which was around 5C or 6C.”
