Manchester United's John O’Shea said today he hoped next month’s Premiership curtain raiser would not rule him out of watching Waterford's hurlers on the same day.
The Manchester United star is due to line-up against last season’s league champions Arsenal in the annual Community Shield match in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.
But the international defender said he hoped he would have the chance to catch the All Ireland Championship semi-final on August 8.
O’Shea was in Dublin along with team mate and fellow Ireland international Liam Miller, and England star Wes Browne to launch the club‘s new home strip.
Crowds of United fans gathered today to welcome their heroes in the city centre where the three stars launched the new team strip.
The trio were greeted by dozens of youngsters and well wishers who crammed into the shopping centre to catch a glimpse of their heroes ahead of a pre-season trip to the United States.
Many queued outside the stores in the Jervis Centre as the stars met about 20 youngsters from Temple Street Hospital for Sick Children signing autographs and posing for pictures.
The three are due to head off to the US later this month with the rest of the Manchester United stars for a series of pre-season matches against the likes of Celtic, Bayern Munich and AC Milan.
