David Hasselhoff insists his divorce has signalled a return to his healthy lifestyle, because living with ex-wife Pamela Bach drove him to drink.
The former 'Baywatch' star was granted a divorce from the 42-year-old actress/singer on Wednesday, and he now plans to return to the fitness regime which made him an international sex symbol in the 1980s and 1990s.
The 54-year-old says: "I was physically abusing myself. I was trying to drink away the pain and that didn't work. So now I am sober and feeling great, and I am taking care of myself, you know, and working it out. The alcohol thing is over.
"The marriage was the cause of it. People were telling me a long time ago that I had to get out. In the end, you have to save yourself. I can't save everyone in the world. You have to take care of yourself and pray a lot."
British newspaper The Sun yesterday reported that Hasselhoff was refused entry to a British Airways flight in London because he was drunk. Hasselhoff has hit back, claiming he was ill.
