Almost half of Irish people aged between 22 and 28 are regular savers, according to a survey conducted for Bank of Ireland.
The bank claims the figures show that the Government's SSIA initiative has changed young people's attitude to money and made them more financially aware.
It says the research disproves the commonly held stereotype that young people are irresponsible with money.
