Cork City manager Damien Richardson has criticised “external forces” who he claims are unsettling star midfielder George O’Callaghan.
O’Callaghan recently agreed a new two-year contract with Cork though that has failed to stop the rumour mill linking the 26-year-old with a move abroad and Richardson believes that the rumours are been driven by people who have no business dealing with O’Callaghan.
“George has been put under pressure by these external forces – people outside the game or peoeple in the game who should be keeping away from him now.
“We’ve agreed and we’ve shaken hands (on a contract). George is our player and still people won’t leave him alone.”
