Lenihan refuses to back-track on decision to deport Agbonlahors

The Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan has said he will not over-rule his predecessor's decision to deport a Nigerian woman and her twins.

The Minister for Justice Brian Lenihan has said he will not over-rule his predecessor's decision to deport a Nigerian woman and her twins.

Michael McDowell ruled that Olivia Agbonlahor and 6-year-olds Melissa and Great - who has autism - should be sent home to Nigeria.

The family are due to be deported in four weeks time, and a campaign is underway in an attempt to prevent this.

Minister Brian Lenihan has ruled out an intervention saying today, “My predecessor made a decision in that matter and there were no new factors drawn to my attention which would have led me to change the decision.”

He added, “That decision stands and that's been communicated to the solicitors and a period of time - four weeks - has been given so that they can make their necessary family arrangements prior to their departure.”
