Bustan one to watch this season

Bustan ran a race full of promise on what was his all-weather debut at Lingfield yesterday.

Marcus Tregoning’s charge, who is still lightly raced, was not beaten far in some good races last season and it is interesting he has been kept in training as a five-year-old.

He was only beaten a head and a neck in the Littlewoods Bet Direct Winter Derby after racing up with the pace throughout, jockey Richard Hills having to do without his whip in the final furlong.

Bustan looks set for a good season on turf for a trainer who does well with this sort of older middle-distance horse.
