The majority of people would support same-sex marriage in Ireland, according to a new Red-C opinion poll.
The poll, carried out towards the end of last year, reveals that up to 73% of people in Ireland back the idea of same-sex marriage.
It asked voters their opinion on various proposed reforms, including same-sex marriage, which is just one of the issues expected to be examined by a new Constitutional convention being set up this year.
The poll also revealed that 87% of those surveyed say the number of TDs should be reduced significantly, while some 75% believe the Oireachtas should be able to hold inquiries into matters of public importance.
Just under 60% of respondents say the Seanad itself should be abolished, while 51% believe that references to women's life within the home should be removed from the Bunreacht na hEireann.
A similar number, 53%, want to see the offence of blasphemy taken out of the Irish Constitution.
