Joanne Cuddihy has qualified for the next round of the women's 400m in London.
Cuddihy, who runs with the Kilkenny City Harriers, finished fourth in her heat which was the first one of the event.
The top three from each heat qualified automatically for the next round with the three fastest losers across all the heats so the Kilkenny runner had an anxious wait for the next six heats.
But she had nothing to worry about as her time of 52.09 meant she qualified as the second-fastest loser and will run in her semi-final tomorrow night at 8.05pm.
This evening, Ciaran O'Lionaird runs in the 1500 metres heats and European cross country champion Fionnula Britton runs in the 10,000 metres final.
Britton finished fourth European Championships earlier this summer.
