The Standards in Public Office Commission has decided not to conduct an official investigation into the abuse of official resources by Education Minister Noel Dempsey and Junior Minister Frank Fahey.

The Commission said today both men had breached the Code of Conduct for Office Holders, but it had decided that their cases did not merit official investigation.

Mr Dempsey had used the resources of his department to prepare election material for Fianna Fáil candidates, while Mr Fahey had sent invitations to a Fianna Fáil fundraiser on Government-headed paper.
