Martin Dwyer was taken to hospital with a suspected broken finger following a fall in the parade ring at Windsor tonight.

The jockey sustained the injury when his mount Marajuana reared up and unseated him in the parade ring before the Littlewoods Bet Direct EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Andrew Balding, trainer of Marajuana, said: “He’s gone to hospital for X-rays but he thinks he has broken it.

“That is obviously bad news, but we will have to wait and see.”

Marajuana, who was to have made her racecourse debut, was withdrawn as no replacement jockey was available.

The six-furlong contest was won by 20-1 outsider Happy Event, ridden by Steve Drowne.
