Canadian country singer Shania Twain has given birth to a boy.

Canadian country singer Shania Twain has given birth to a boy.

Eja (pronounced Asia) was born on August 12. Twain and husband Robert John Lange live in Switzerland and have kept the pregnancy and birth secret.

The Country.com Web site said Twain’s publicist confirmed the birth but would not give details.

Twain and Lange have been married since 1993 and the baby is their first child.

Twain, who comes from Ontario, has sold more than 50 million albums. She dropped out of the public eye after her last release, Come On Over, in 1999.
