Two men carry out armed raid on Longford post office

Gardaí in Co Longford are investigating a post office robbery in Edgeworthstown this afternoon.

Gardaí in Co Longford are investigating a post office robbery in Edgeworthstown this afternoon.

Two men held up the post office around 2.30pm and made off with an undisclosed sum of money.

One was armed with a handgun, the other with a sledgehammer.

A number of customers were in the Post Office at the time. No one was physically hurt, but all are said to be traumatised by the incident.
