Mayo, Connacht and All-Ireland club champions Ballina Stephenites are embroiled in controvery following a county league clash at the weekend.

The match against neighbours Knockmore was abandoned on Sunday after a melee broke out on the field with a minute to go.

The Mayo County Board is set to investigate the incident, which saw former inter-county star David

Brady, who trains Ballina Stephenites, given a straight red card.

Players and officials are believed to have joined in the fracas.

Referee Charlie Collins abandoned the match and his report is awaited by the county board.
