YOUNG ADAM stars Ewan McGregor as Joe, a hard-up writer who takes a job working on a barge for a rather strange couple, Les (Peter Mullan) and Ella Gault (Tilda Swinton).
When the near-naked body of a young woman is dragged from the river we suspect there may be more going on than meets the eye. A series of flashbacks slowly uncovers Joe’s connection with the dead woman.
Joe’s favourite past-time seems to be sex, something he engages in quite a lot in this film. Just about every woman he comes in contact with seems to want to do a little horizontal jogging, and Joe is only too happy to oblige.
As a result we get to see a lot more than you’d normally expect of McGregor and his female co-stars.
Young Adam is a well made, cleverly shot film and Ewan McGregor does a great job portraying the morally defunct Joe. It’s worth seeing alone for his performance.
