Met Eireann and the National Safety Council have warned motorists to expect dangerous driving conditions in the next 24 hours.

Forecasters have predicted heavy rain in the West this evening and throughout the country by tomorrow.

A spokesman for Met Eireann said the rain would lead to slippery conditions on the roads.

The bad weather is expected to continue through the weekend.
