“My name’s Chris Waitt. I’m an independent filmmaker and I decided to make a film about my personal problems...”
Shaggy-haired and bleary-eyed, Waitt is the perpetual bachelor. Dumped by every girl he has dated, he is at a loss to explain why the fairer sex isn’t clamouring for his company. In the name of science, he plans to interview his old flames and dissect past relationships, learning why each fizzled out.
Helped by his perpetually cheerful mother, he sifts through old love letters and makes countless phone calls, hoping to persuade ex-girlfriends to vent their spleens on camera. “Every time I speak to you, I want to vomit,” snaps one.
In the process, Waitt undergoes a comical journey of self-discovery, which includes an overdose of Viagra and heartbreaking honesty from the one woman who means everything to him. 'A Complete History Of My Sexual Failures' is an entertaining portrait of 21st century man, which heaps misery upon embarrassment as the director faces his seemingly endless inadequacies.
Waitt is an endearing guide, nervously dissecting reunions with old flames and defending his filmmaking style to producer Mark Herbert. “I was taking a more guerrilla approach,” argues Chris. “Agorilla would have made a better job of it,” counters Mark tersely.
