An open forum on the Government’s review of commercial radio licensing is taking place in Athlone, Co Westmeath today.

An open forum on the Government’s review of commercial radio licensing is taking place in Athlone, Co Westmeath today.

More than 80 people, most of them from the local radio sector, are attending the meeting.

Speaking in Athlone, Communications Minister Dermot Ahern said he expected the review to lead to more diverse and innovative radio in Ireland

“We need to make sure that there is a suitable mix of public service radio, independent commercial radio and community and special interest radio,” he said.
