Young man dies after Galway stabbing

A 20-year-old man has died after being stabbed during an incident in Galway city in the early hours of this morning.

A 20-year-old man has died after being stabbed during an incident in Galway city in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí on foot patrol were alerted to the stabbing in the Williamgate Street area just after 2am.

The victim was rushed to University Hospital Galway in a patrol car, but he was pronounced dead at around 3am.

The State Pathologist's office has been notified and the Eglinton Street and Williamgate Street areas have been sealed off for technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
