Workers at Tara Mines are due to begin voting today on a cost-cutting plan for the Navan-based facility.

Workers at Tara Mines are due to begin voting today on a cost-cutting plan for the Navan-based facility.

The deal was negotiated between SIPTU and the company's management.

Tara Mines had initially proposed job cuts and a pay freeze, but SIPTU put forward alternative proposals that would protect employment levels.

The result of the ballot among the company's 670 employees will be known on Thursday.
