Chart-topping singer Jamie Cullum has become an ambassador for the Samaritans.
The 26-year-old jazz star, who has supported the charity for years, joined its new Young Ambassador scheme, which aims to raise funds and increase awareness of Samaritans’ work.
Cullum, who has sold two and a half million albums in the last two years, has already raised £12,000 for the charity through donations on his website and more through collections at concerts.
“I have considered Samaritans one of my favourite charities for a long time and it’s good that younger people in society can do something positive to support such a worthwhile cause,” he said.
“Especially when the young are also one of the higher risk groups when it comes to needing emotional support.
“I look forward to being an active and involved Young Ambassador and doing whatever I can to support Samaritans in all its varied work.”
