The Junior Minister with responsibility for drugs has strongly criticised the manner in which Harristown House addiction centre in Co Roscommon is being closed.

The Junior Minister with responsibility for drugs has strongly criticised the manner in which Harristown House addiction centre in Co Roscommon is being closed.

John Curran says he was never consulted on the matter.

The Probation and Welfare Service announced earlier this week that the centre, which treats men for drug addiction, will close at the end of next month.

Minister Curran says he is strongly opposed to such unilateral decisions.
